Imprimeur dans le civil, Harry s’engage dans l’Ox & Bucks Light Infantry et arrive le 24 mars 1917 au camp d’entraînement d’Étaples. Au cours de la Bataille d’Arras, Harry envoie une lettre à sa mère où il écrit de manière prémonitoire que sa chance semble l’avoir abandonné. Harry est tué lors d’une attaque sur Hillside Work, pulvérisé par un obus près de Vis-en-Artois, le 3 mai 1917, à l’âge de 22 ans. Sans sépulture, son nom est gravé sur le Mémorial d'Arras.

A printer in civilian life, Harry joined up with the Ox and Bucks Light Infantry and arrived at the training camp in Étaples on 24th March 1917. During the Battle of Arras, Harry sent a letter to his mother in which he writes, with some foresight, that his luck appeared to have run out. Harry was killed during an attack on Hillside Work, blown up by a shell close to Vis-en-Artois on 3rd May 1917, at the age of 22. With no known resting place, his name is engraved on the Arras Memorial.

Quelques jours avant le début de la 3e bataille de la Scarpe (3 et 4 mai 1917), Harry écrit à sa mère que sa chance semble l’avoir abandonné : « My luck is out ». Il est pulvérisé par un obus, à 22 ans, le premier jour de l’attaque.

Few days before the 3rd battle of the Scarpe begins (3rd and 4th May 1917), Harry write to his mother that his luck might have gone away: “My luck is out”. He is pulverised by a shell on the first day of the attack, he was 22.
